About SSC JE
The Junior Engineer examination recruits diploma and degree holders in engineering to departments such as CPWD, MES, BRO and the Central Water Commission.
Paper 1 is a computer-based objective test covering reasoning, general awareness and general engineering. Paper 2 tests the candidate's own engineering discipline in depth.

What is the SSC JE Paper 1 exam pattern?
SSC JE Paper 1 has 200 questions to be answered in 120 minutes. Each question carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The sections are General Intelligence and Reasoning (50), General Awareness (50) and General Engineering (100).
Is there negative marking in SSC JE?
Yes. In Paper 1, 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer, while unattempted questions are not penalised. Online practice on SSC Rank applies the same deduction.
