Ratio and ProportionEasySSC CGL 2024

Two numbers are in the ratio 4 : 5 and their sum is 45. What is the larger number?

  1. (A)30
  2. (B)25
  3. (C)41
  4. (D)5

Correct answer: (B) 25

Let the numbers be 4x and 5x. Then 4x + 5x = 45, so 9x = 45 and x = 5. The larger number is 5x = 5 × 5 = 25.
