Correct answer: (B) 66
Squaring both sides: (x − 1/x)² = x² + 1/x² − 2 = 64. Therefore x² + 1/x² = 64 + 2 = 66.
Shortcut: x² + 1/x² = k² + 2 when x − 1/x = k.
