SSC GD Direction and Distance question with solution
Direction and DistanceModerateSSC GD 2024
Rahul walks 7 km towards the east, then turns and walks 24 km towards the south. How far is Rahul from the starting point?
- (A)24 km
- (B)17 km
- (C)25 km
- (D)27 km
Correct answer: (C) 25 km
The two legs of the walk are at right angles, so the shortest distance from the start is the hypotenuse: √(7² + 24²) = √(49 + 576) = √625 = 25 km.
Shortcut: 7-24-25 is a Pythagorean triple.
