Study plan

A 90-Day Study Plan for SSC CGL Tier 1

A realistic three-phase plan: build concepts, practise by topic, then move to full-length papers.

By the SSC Rank editorial team · Updated

This plan assumes about three to four hours of study a day. Adjust the hours to your situation, but keep the three phases in order.

Days 1–40: Build concepts

  • Quantitative Aptitude (90 minutes daily): one arithmetic topic every three days — percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, interest, time and work, speed and distance. Then algebra, geometry and mensuration.
  • Reasoning (45 minutes daily): series, analogy, coding-decoding and classification first; these are quick marks.
  • English (45 minutes daily): ten new words a day, one grammar rule a day, and one reading passage.
  • General Awareness (30 minutes daily): static topics — polity, history, geography — from one standard source.

End each topic with 20 to 30 practice questions.

Days 41–70: Practise by topic and section

  • Take one subject test or topic test every day and review every wrong answer.
  • Keep a single notebook of mistakes and formulas you forget.
  • Start one full previous year paper each weekend.
  • Add 15 minutes of current affairs daily.

Days 71–90: Full-length papers

  • One full paper every alternate day under a strict 60-minute timer.
  • Spend the next day analysing it and revising weak topics.
  • In the final week, stop learning new topics. Revise your mistake notebook and re-attempt questions you got wrong earlier.

Weekly check

Every Sunday, look at your subject-wise accuracy. Give the weakest subject an extra 30 minutes a day in the following week. Small, regular corrections work better than a big change of plan.
