SSC CGL Direction and Distance question with solution
Direction and DistanceModerateSSC CGL 2024
Neha walks 3 km towards the west, then turns and walks 4 km towards the north. How far is Neha from the starting point?
- (A)7 km
- (B)1 km
- (C)5 km
- (D)4 km
Correct answer: (C) 5 km
The two legs of the walk are at right angles, so the shortest distance from the start is the hypotenuse: √(3² + 4²) = √(9 + 16) = √25 = 5 km.
Shortcut: 3-4-5 is a Pythagorean triple.
