SSC CGL Profit and Loss question with solution

Profit and LossEasy

A shopkeeper buys an article for ₹600 and sells it for ₹690. What is the profit percentage?

  1. (A)20%
  2. (B)15%
  3. (C)13%
  4. (D)25%

Correct answer: (B) 15%

Profit = selling price − cost price = 690 − 600 = 90. Profit percentage is always calculated on the cost price: 90 ÷ 600 × 100 = 15%.

Shortcut: Profit % = (SP − CP)/CP × 100.
