SSC CGL Profit and Loss question with solution

Profit and LossEasy

A shopkeeper buys an article for ₹2,200 and sells it for ₹2,640. What is the profit percentage?

  1. (A)25%
  2. (B)15%
  3. (C)17%
  4. (D)20%

Correct answer: (D) 20%

Profit = selling price − cost price = 2640 − 2200 = 440. Profit percentage is always calculated on the cost price: 440 ÷ 2200 × 100 = 20%.

Shortcut: Profit % = (SP − CP)/CP × 100.
