SSC CGL Time, Speed and Distance question with solution
Time, Speed and DistanceModerateSSC CGL 2024
A train 300 m long is running at 36 km/h. How much time will it take to cross a pole?
- (A)8 seconds
- (B)34 seconds
- (C)27 seconds
- (D)30 seconds
Correct answer: (D) 30 seconds
Convert the speed to metres per second: 36 × 5/18 = 10 m/s. To cross a pole the train covers its own length, so time = 300 ÷ 10 = 30 seconds.
Shortcut: km/h × 5/18 = m/s; time = length ÷ speed.
