SSC CHSL Time, Speed and Distance question with solution
Time, Speed and DistanceModerateSSC CHSL 2024
A train 130 m long is running at 36 km/h. How much time will it take to cross a pole?
- (A)17 seconds
- (B)26 seconds
- (C)10 seconds
- (D)13 seconds
Correct answer: (D) 13 seconds
Convert the speed to metres per second: 36 × 5/18 = 10 m/s. To cross a pole the train covers its own length, so time = 130 ÷ 10 = 13 seconds.
Shortcut: km/h × 5/18 = m/s; time = length ÷ speed.
