SSC CGL Time, Speed and Distance question with solution
Time, Speed and DistanceModerateSSC CGL 2024
A train 390 m long is running at 108 km/h. How much time will it take to cross a pole?
- (A)4 seconds
- (B)13 seconds
- (C)10 seconds
- (D)17 seconds
Correct answer: (B) 13 seconds
Convert the speed to metres per second: 108 × 5/18 = 30 m/s. To cross a pole the train covers its own length, so time = 390 ÷ 30 = 13 seconds.
Shortcut: km/h × 5/18 = m/s; time = length ÷ speed.
