SSC CGL Time, Speed and Distance question with solution
Time, Speed and DistanceModerateSSC CGL 2024
A train 460 m long is running at 72 km/h. How much time will it take to cross a pole?
- (A)46 seconds
- (B)23 seconds
- (C)6 seconds
- (D)20 seconds
Correct answer: (B) 23 seconds
Convert the speed to metres per second: 72 × 5/18 = 20 m/s. To cross a pole the train covers its own length, so time = 460 ÷ 20 = 23 seconds.
Shortcut: km/h × 5/18 = m/s; time = length ÷ speed.
