SSC CGL Time, Speed and Distance question with solution
Time, Speed and DistanceModerateSSC CGL 2024
A train 225 m long is running at 54 km/h. How much time will it take to cross a pole?
- (A)12 seconds
- (B)15 seconds
- (C)4 seconds
- (D)19 seconds
Correct answer: (B) 15 seconds
Convert the speed to metres per second: 54 × 5/18 = 15 m/s. To cross a pole the train covers its own length, so time = 225 ÷ 15 = 15 seconds.
Shortcut: km/h × 5/18 = m/s; time = length ÷ speed.
