Correct answer: (D) 8 days
Riya's one-day work = 1/12 and Divya's one-day work = 1/24. Together they do 1/12 + 1/24 = 36/288 = 1/8 of the work per day, so the work is finished in 8 days.
Shortcut: Days together = (a × b)/(a + b) = 288/36 = 8.
