Correct answer: (D) 8 days
Karan's one-day work = 1/10 and Rahul's one-day work = 1/40. Together they do 1/10 + 1/40 = 50/400 = 1/8 of the work per day, so the work is finished in 8 days.
Shortcut: Days together = (a × b)/(a + b) = 400/50 = 8.
